Planting Melons has shown the prospect of a very promising business opportunity. But if the soil factor is getting harder, the nutrients are small, especially the micro-nutrients & natural hormones, climatic factors & weather, pests & plant diseases and maintenance factors are not considered, the profits will decrease. To increase the melon productivity in quantity, quality, and environmental sustainability here is the requirement of planting for melon fruit.
Climate needs full sunlight during its growth. In high humidity melon plants are easily attacked by disease. Optimal temperature between 25-300C. The wind that blows strong enough to damage melon crops. Continuous rainfall will also harm melon plants. Melon can grow well at an altitude of 300-900 m above sea level.
Growing media
Good soil is sandy clay which contains many organic materials such as andosol, latosol, regosol, & grumosol, provided that the deficiencies of the soil properties can be manipulated by liming, adding organic matter, or fertilizing. Melon plants do not like soil that is too wet, soil pH 5,8-7,2.
Making Semai Media
Provide Natural GLIO: 1-2 Natural GLIO packaging mixed with 50-100 kg of manure for 1000 m2 of land. Further silenced in 1 week in the shade with always keep the humidity and occasionally stirred (reversed). Mix the sifted soil, 2 parts / 2 bucket (10 lt volume), finely soured powdered manure 1 part / 1 bucket, TSP (± 50 gr) dissolved in 2 Poc Nasa lids, and Natural GLIO cultivated in manure 1-2 kg. Put the seed medium into polybag size 8 x 10 cm until filled to 90%.
Seeding Techniques and Maintenance of Melon Fruit Seeds
Seed soaked in 1 liter warm water temperature 20-250C + 1 NASA POC cover for 8-12 hours then diam + 48 hours. Then sow in polybags, 1-1.5 cm deep. The seeds are sited in an upright position and the tip of the root candidate is face down. Cover the seeds with a mixture of husk & ground ash with a ratio of 2: 1. Pockets of nursery are lined up to be exposed to full sunlight from rising to drowning.
Given a transparent plastic protection that one end is open.
Spray POC NASA to spur the development of seedlings, at the age of seeds 7-9 days with a dose of 1.0-1.5 cc / liter. Watering is done very carefully on a regular basis every morning. Seedlings of melon that have been leaved 4-5 strands / melon plants have aged 10-12 days we can moved by plastic bag polybags opened carefully then the seedlings following the soil is planted in beds that have been hollowed before, the bed should not be short of water.
Interested to the cultivation of melons ?? good luck, good luck.
